I HAVE IT.- lice,
- It all started with my scalp really itchy but i have always had an itchy scalp because i wash my hair everyday. so when i noticed my ears really itchy and also my neck i began to wonder why--But i didnt say anything. About 1 week later my dad and i were driving and he was talking to me annd he looked at my hair and said "KATIE YOU HAVE LICE! I SAW LIKE FOUR CRAWLING!!" i got kinda scared because i had it for about a week --so hurrying me and my dad went to buy Nix And he washed my hair and combed out my hair for about 2 hours. My head is still itchy but that is the side effect but i have some white things either nits that hatched or have not or maybe dandruff? So i have to cope with this. Hopefully those nasty bug things will burn in hell.

Enough Already
- My son got lice from somewhere over a month ago. We have taken all the right steps and we can't get rid of them. Last week I shaved his head, at his request and I cut my long hair off. Everything we own is still in quarentine. We had just moved into a house with no washer and dryer and the expense of laundry alone is killing us. Now that school is out for the summer I am hoping it is over. However school is only out for two months. Is there no way to prevent this from coming back? That is, if we can actually get rid of it that is.

I hate lice!
- Ok, so I went over my friends house for Christmas vacation. One of her mom's friends daughter came over. We were playing with her hair and i found lice! They were very small and dark brown. We had her mom check her and the mother didnt see anything! Me and my friend were the only ones who could find the lice in her hair! And I never got it. Lice must hate my hair which is a good thing! I have gotten checked by the school nurse and the doctor. There are soo many head lice outbreaks at my school.

It's hard on the poor kids
- My daughter is 6 and has had lice 4-5 times since she started going to daycare 3 years ago. I hate that. Her BEST friend of 3+ years has brought it to our home 3 of the times. All three times she spent the night with my daughter, within days, she would have lice. The 4th time my daughter got it at her house. The daycare teachers told me that this poor little girl and her brothers and sisters have lice at least once every couple of months. I know it doesn't mean they are dirty, but all the time. I had to stop the two of them from playing together, and that SUCKS!!! My daughter has extremely thick dark brown hair, and the last time she had it, within 2 days, I spent a total of 15 hours nitpicking while she slept. Now she has nits again, I see NO bugs at all, but 15+ hours again, she is not happy. I know it's something almost every family deals with, but I'm tired of it!!! Fortunately though I have not gotten it. I wish they would disappear.

I'm fed up.
- I am fed up with head lice. I myself have them (i am in 9th grade) and have had them on and off since 3rd..I sound really disgusting, but I've done all the treatments and I comb them all out and I comb it every other day when I come out the shower. And if I can not do it for a week and I've got them again. So i get the mayo out and do it again and its all fine then something always happens and I get them back. I'm too embarrassed to ask my friends if they have them because I'm a wimp. I really hate it. If any parents are reading this. Go and check your children's hair. Please. I always look around to see if anyone is looking at my hair and I'm always feeling it to see if any bugs are on the surface. Don't let them get like me. thank you for reading..

Ewww!
- When I was a kid I remember everyone use to have little sleep overs and share pillows and sleep in sleeping bags together. Well that wasn't me. The day I came home from the sleepover I was constantly itching and scratching. I had very long nails, so every time I itched I would check my nails. About two weeks later I found a louse bug in my NAIL! It was gross. I immediately showed my mom and we did the vinegar treatment. It worked! But ever since that I checked my kids hair about once a month.

3rd Grader with Super Long Hair
- I have a third grader with super long blonde hair. She's had lice twice since kindergarten. First time they found it at school, she had caught it from the other kids...the second time I don't know if she had them for sure or not, but a cousin of hers did so i just treated her to be safe. This third time (today) I think she got them from school again. I was brushing her hair this morning and found one lone louse. I already had lice shampoo, so first I went through her hair, small section by small section and pulled out any nits I found (I only found three), then I put lice shampoo in and let it set for 10 minutes....got it wet, lathered, rinsed, and put in conditioner and rinsed. I also shampooed her two little sisters just in case. I took all of the kids bedding and washed it all in hot water and bagged up all pillows and stuffed animals for the next two weeks. I vacumed all carpets, beds, couches, chairs. Washed all their coats and hats in hot water. Now their hair is in braides.

AAAHHHHHHHHH
- After 7 years of blessed absence the pests returned to my house. We resorted to a flea comb (plastic combs don't work and my kids' hair even broke a metal toothed one.)and did some cutting.Even with all this one of my daughters missed 2 weeks of school due to no nits policy. Can't believe that even though she had no live ones she still couldn't go to school. It took a total of 12 hours of nitpicking before she could go back!

DIRTY
- The worst feeling of this experience is wondering what others may think about your hygienic habits when you have to warn them about your child's or your own infestation. I hate ignorance but its hard to fight. Head lice can happen to anybody and anyone. By the way vinegar rinses and soaking hair in mayonnaise really work wonders. You are better off working a little harder and more consistently than going the cheap fast way and buying bug repellent if you do not wish to get re-infected. Those shampoos have side effects and can be cause serious harm. Think about spraying your childs head with roach spray, would you do that? Go the longer and harder way it proves to be more healthy and less risky in the long run.

HATE THESE THINGS!!!
- I have been dealing with this for over a month now and just when we have done everything like we are suppose to they are back. I'm at the end of my rope. I took my 9 year old daughter and had her hair cut off because it is so thick I couldn't take putting her through the pulling anymore and my 6 year old daughter has very thin and it's not hard to do her's but why do I keep having to?!?! All I can think of is that it's coming from someone close to our home or something. Like neighbors, friends, sports school bus. So if anyone has any really good effective remedies i'm all ears!!

I have lice right now
- I actually have head lice right now. They're really itchy and I'm really ashamed of having them. I'm in secondary school so this kind of thing is considered 'uncool'. I've kept it a secret, and even though when I'm alone I scratch constantly, I don't scratch or talk about it in public. To stop myself from scratching I trap my hands in my back pockets of my skintight jeans. It's sexy and I can keep my secret.

It's baseball season don't share helmets
- Just want anyone with kids who play baseball or softball to be reminded no matter what don't share helmets. My daughter's softball team has kids who don't own their own equipment and coaches let those girls share. My daughter ended up with lice and her own helmet that was infected. We found a spray that you can treat hats and helmets with. I highly recommend it and don't allow kids to share even if it makes you look like a bad mom and warn coaches ahead of time why! Oftentimes male coaches don't understand the issue or don't want to deal with it(ours never said anything even after they were told) and then you end up with more problems down the road. It's well worth using your own equipment and making sure others don't share it. If they have to make sure the kid using it wears a full baseball hat or covering under the helmet. I wish I'd spoke up before the season started. I was warned by my hairdresser about this too before and sure enough it happened!

homeschooling and head lice
- I do homeschool my children and both my boys got head lice. What do you do? Check your childrens friends before they come over? I guess we are not immune from lice.

We're dealing with it
- My six year old came home from school complaining of her head itching. I immediatly put her in the tub and let her bathe. SHe said she tole her nurse at school the day before and the nurse checked her scalp but all was well. But my mother had given me a comb for lice removal so I tried it just to ease my mind. Sure enough, I removed lice. I have combed her hair, used Nix, and this morning I combed out more live babies. They are so tiny!! Wish us luck in this battle...I am in the process of cleaning EVERYTHING and hopefully we have removed most of the eggs.
