Motorcycle Exhaust Pipe Burn

Burn from motorcycle tailpipe

Location of the injury

Right calf

What kind of injury is it

A deep burn. Not sure if it's 2nd or 3rd degree. The burn blistered on the 3rd day, and then split and now looks like the top layer is peeling off. Extremely painful.

What happened

I was moving my fiance's motorcycle that he had just finished riding. I was wearing shorts and my leg came in contact with the tailpipe for just a second. I didn't go to the hospital. I put some ointment on it that my stepdad used for welding burns and that helped a lot the first day. I wasn't too concerned about it until it started blistering on the 3rd day. It has now been 5 days since the burn and it is still blistering and last night it split and now looks like it's peeling.

What I'd Do Differently

I would wear jeans!! I grew up around motorcycles and I know better than to get on a motorcycle with shorts on and I know the tailpipe gets HOT!
