Why I think it's a spider bite
Something inside my boot bit or stung me as I was putting on my long-shafted boot. I don't have ants, I don't live in an area with scorpions, I never see any kind of biting or stinging insect in my home besides the occasional mosquito, so I'm *guessing* it was a spider? Anyway, it was something lurking inside an old cowboy boot. (I never feel mosquito bites, and this welt is nothing like a mosquito bite, including a recent mosquito bite in a similar position on my other foot.)
What happened
I felt a sharp stinging sensation as I put my boot on. I wondered what it was, but I was in a hurry to leave so I ignored it until I got back at the end of the day. By then the top of my foot hurt and itched, and a raised welt about 1.75" wide had developed. 24hrs later, a large part of the whole top of my foot has become red, swollen, and warm to the touch, with the welt still visible in the center. The welt throbs with my pulse (turns pale and then red with each pulse).
Advice
- Check your boots first! Somehow.
