I Don't Like Spiders or Snakes!

The next morning at the Dr. before relieving the fluid.

day 4 only tender now, no more fluid

Tell us where your bite is (arm, leg, nose, whatever)

Instep of left foot

Why I think it's a spider bite

It looks like it can only be one of two types of pests from the size of the fang puncture wounds and the distance between them; either a fairly large spider, or a small snake! I shudder at the idea of both. The fang marks are 1/2 cm, or 1/4 inch apart, measured, and oddly surrounded by triangular marks that are either blood marks or filling with fluid. (the red streaks in day 1 photo are a photographic anomaly only)

I have killed a couple of small wolf looking spiders in my bedroom and bath this past week since it has been very high temperatures outside I believe they are coming inside more.

What happened

It was in my bed on early morning. I was sleeping and I had scratched my foot with my other foot and was awakened with a sharp but short lived pain. I thought I must have cut my foot with my toenail while trying to scratch it and went back to sleep. I didn't even remember it in the morning, but during the day it started getting rather painful to walk on as the lower right side started becoming filled with fluid. I went to the Dr. the next morning and the PA said she didn't think it was a spider bite but didn't know what it was. I treated it topically with antibiotics and with oral antibiotics and it refilled with clear fluid in one of the fang holes once, which I drained, and now it appears to be clearing up, although it is looking quite bruised now.

Advice

  • Get on antibiotics asap and use topical antibiotic daily.
