Doctor Says She'll be Fine, but Mom's Not So Sure

3 days after bite still swollen and growing

Tell us where your bite is (arm, leg, nose, whatever)

Face

Why I think it's a spider bite

The doctor said it was a spider bite.

What happened

I saw a spot, thought it was a mosquito bite. It kept growing, so I took her to doctor. They gave her antibiotics for staph -- Clindamyacin. The spot continues to grow; it is hot and red. She is still eating and playing with no fever so the doctor is not worried, but I am.

Advice

  • I really don't have any other than act quickly because it can get bad quick.

Rod Brouhard, First Aid Guide, says:

If you see a doctor for a problem (or take your child) and you don't like what the doctor has to say, you can always get another opinion. On the other hand, it's a good idea to ask the doctor to explain her thinking. If it sounds reasonable, it probably is.
