Day 3

Tell us where your bite is (arm, leg, nose, whatever)

Foot, between heel and ankle

Why I think it's a spider bite

Typical bullseye pattern with large blister formed which continues to grow.

Bite occurred two days ago, I woke up in the middle of the night with a pain in the area but thought nothing of it and went back to sleep. No sign of a spider at all the next day!

I had been next to a wetland the night the bite appeared so there is every possibility something jumped on me and bit me then.

What happened

Doctor at the walk-in clinic I visited the next day could not confirm this was a spider bite - in fact he said it was incredibly uncommon for a bug bite of any kind in the UK. Stuck me on antibiotics to fight off possible infection and sent me home. I think it's rare to get insect bites in the UK and that's why he was so perplexed - but a simple Google helped me figure out what it was, that and being South African.

It is slowly starting to heal but tissue surrounding the bite is still painful and sore to touch.

Advice

  • See a Doctor as bites can become infected easily
