Brown Recluse Bite in Minnesota?

Brown Recluse Bite Southern Minnesota @ two weeks

upper leg

Why I think it's a spider bite

I think this was the brown recluse spider by the amount of dead tissue as well as the two bite marks in the center. Being form Minnesota I am very unfamiliar with this type of spider, and I am told by my doctor they are very rare in the upper Midwest. She said this was only the second one she had seen around that area.

What happened

I was camping on a river bank in southern Minnesota. I woke up with a dime size white blister on my leg with 2 small bite marks in the center. There was a slight burning sensation in the first couple days of the bite, but other then that no pain, fever, nausea, or vomiting. I went to the doctor and she blamed the brown recluse spider for the bite. Over the next couple days the white blister turned black and began to form a crater in my leg.

Advice

  • If you are reading this you are already conscious about a serious bite. Go see your doctor, better to be safe then sorry!! The doctor claims that I was bit by a spider that was severely rare for the area I live in, but when you are in the outdoors anything can happen. GO GET IT LOOKED AT!!!
