The Dog Did It

Follow me on:

I'm always looking through the news feeds to see what safety, first aid and emergency response stuff I can talk about with my readers. I usually look through the latest health news and then check the weird news, because the oddest accidents find their way into the weird news.

Today I see a story about a man who was killed when his dog pushed the gas pedal and ran him down. It turns out there was someone in the driver's seat when it happened.

Things that make you go, hmmmm...

In the story, the man was opening a gate behind the car when the driver opened the car door to see where he was. The dog reportedly jumped in and landed on the accelerator. So, the car was in reverse and she didn't have her foot on the brake? I guess it's from spending too much time in emergency services with law enforcement officers, but I find the story just a tad farfetched.

Either way, the man is dead now. Assuming this really was a freak accident, it just goes to show you can't predict what will heppen next. Don't ever walk behind a car that's in gear. That's my advice for the day.

More owners need to learn pet first aid and have a pet first aid kit on hand. Many pets are not given the correct treatment in the first golden hour after an accident or injury. Its very sad to see the bad outcome time and time again…
