FEMA is expecting flooding and power outages, not to mention that Sandy will have tropical force winds spreading nearly 700 miles wide. Take care and if you're not prepared for a hurricane yet, there's no time to waste.
The worst part of the damage is likely to be the areas just to the north of where the eye will make landfall. Current predictions put the eye hitting land somewhere on the Jersey Shore, which means the worst storm surges will happen around Long Island.
There's a lot of people living there.
Hurricane Sandy is expected to be the worst storm in decades to hit the East Coast. I just sent a team to help with the FEMA response and I suspect they're going to be in the region for quite a while.
