Stay Safe on the Ice - Even with Your Dog

Monday January 5, 2009

A woman in New Jersey chased her dog onto a frozen pond.

The dog, a German Shepherd named Apollo, ran onto the ice and the woman followed him. She and the dog fell through the ice.

A passerby ran onto the ice to save the woman but also fell through. He was able to make his way off the ice and summoned help via 911. Rescue crews found the woman but were unable to save her.

Apollo made it out on his own.
