Stingray Killings May be Irwin Revenge

Speculation is that people may be killing the stingrays to avenge Irwin's death. Friends of Irwin are pleading for the killings to stop, saying that Irwin would never have wanted stingrays or any other animal to suffer.

There is no need to kill stingrays. The animals are usually very docile and only sting when threatened. Experts suggest shuffling your feet when walking in shallow water to scare up the stingrays that may be burrowed there. Most stingray stings happen when unsuspecting waders step on a hidden ray.
